Chateau Rouge seeks investment for company expansion via crowd-funding platform Crowdcube.com

Thursday, November 7th, 2013

Luxury loose leaf tea company, Chateau Rouge, has announced plans to grow its business in Europe and Asia in addition to extending its product range to include premium tea bags, speciality coffee and chocolate.  Investment for the expansion is being sought over the next two months through Crowdcube, which helps start-ups and growing businesses to raise business finance via an equity crowd-funding platform.

London based luxury goods company Chateau Rouge, was founded in 2010 by South African born Séan Farrell, who currently sources and sells speciality tea both online and in high-end retail outlets. Bestselling teas include: Wildharvest Honeybush – gathered by hand in the mountains of the Eastern Cape, South Africa; White Monkey – a mellow green tea from Fujian, China; Imperial Earl Grey – a special blend of orthodox black teas from Assam, Darjeeling, Ceylon and China; Wiedouw Rooibos – an organic, rainforest alliance certified, single estate Rooibos from the Western Cape, South Africa.

Séan’s initial plans to grow the business from a part-time enterprise were scuppered when in 2007 he, and a year later his partner, were both diagnosed with unrelated cancers. Having received the all clear, Séan left his career in accountancy and is now determined to fulfil his ambition to build a global luxury goods business focussing on quality, provenance, sustainability and eco credentials.Early 2014 will see the range of Chateau Rouge’s products diversify into premium teabag teas and high quality coffee, sourced predominantly from Organic, Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance registered producers from around the world. Luxury chocolate will be introduced later in the year.

Sean Farrell, Founder and CEO of Chateau Rouge comments: “Since childhood I have been fanatical about food and drink and its provenance. I travelled the world, indulging my passion for seeking new tastes and flavours. I am now bringing these experiences to others and am excited to take Chateau Rouge to the next level, thanks to Crowdcube.

“I’ve learnt that life is often shorter than you think and you must do what you love. For me, that is bringing the finest quality produce directly from the growers, to people who are passionate about what they eat and drink and believe in sustainability and eco credentials.”

Pouring Tea after Years of Coffee…

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

Add this to the list of things science can’t explain, like the Taos hum or Naga fireballs. I’m an insurance adjuster. We’re a jaded, thick-skinned lot, and no matter what names you call us or legal action you threaten, we get all our crying done the first month on the job. We chomp animal crackers while we crunch numbers, and hold Dum Dum suckers in our cheeks like Kojak, white stick hanging from lips all day long. Sometimes we make you listen to You Can’t Always Get What You Want on the Muzak while you wait on hold for us to decide your economic fate. We take our coffee thick and dark, the most hardcore among us chain smoking between cases of Diet Coke or bourbon at our desks.
