Luxury loose leaf tea company, Chateau Rouge, has announced plans to grow its business in Europe and Asia in addition to extending its product range to include premium tea bags, speciality coffee and chocolate. Investment for the expansion is being sought over the next two months through Crowdcube, which helps start-ups and growing businesses to raise business finance via an equity crowd-funding platform.
London based luxury goods company Chateau Rouge, was founded in 2010 by South African born Séan Farrell, who currently sources and sells speciality tea both online and in high-end retail outlets. Bestselling teas include: Wildharvest Honeybush – gathered by hand in the mountains of the Eastern Cape, South Africa; White Monkey – a mellow green tea from Fujian, China; Imperial Earl Grey – a special blend of orthodox black teas from Assam, Darjeeling, Ceylon and China; Wiedouw Rooibos – an organic, rainforest alliance certified, single estate Rooibos from the Western Cape, South Africa.
Séan’s initial plans to grow the business from a part-time enterprise were scuppered when in 2007 he, and a year later his partner, were both diagnosed with unrelated cancers. Having received the all clear, Séan left his career in accountancy and is now determined to fulfil his ambition to build a global luxury goods business focussing on quality, provenance, sustainability and eco credentials.Early 2014 will see the range of Chateau Rouge’s products diversify into premium teabag teas and high quality coffee, sourced predominantly from Organic, Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance registered producers from around the world. Luxury chocolate will be introduced later in the year.
